An entirely scratchbuilt bogie stripcoil wagon, based upon a prototype once very prevalent in South Wales. Solebars, headstocks and bogie pivots are all soldered brass, whilst the small areas of timber decking are scribed Plasticard. The transverse channels, whose ends are visible just above the solebar, were built up from 5-thou Plasticard and allow a realistic amount of daylight through the frame when viewed from lower down. The tarpaulins are folded cigarette paper loosly fitted over a Plasticard frame, and painted a mixture of greys and browns to create a weathered effect. Bogies are by my usual method - dummy castings from my own masters on brass frames.
