Wallingford (layout now sold)

Dimensions - 9' x 9' right angle design with operating area within the angle thereby giving two good viewing areas. The layout is a single track branch based in Oxfordshire with ex GWR and ex LMS loco stock but some early BR diesels. It comprises three scenic boards plus a fiddle yard.

Board 1 is the main board with all the controls. This board contains the station and shunting yard and the points are manually operated from a lever frame by means of cables in tubes. The points on board 2 are electrically operated. Also on board 1 are electrically operated push-button uncouplers on various tracks, including the station itself, and all stock is fitted with DG delay-action uncouplers.

Loco Stock.

All have been run at two exhibitions quite recently except the Churchward 8F as the link between the tender and loco has become detached and needs attention.

Coaching Stock

Goods stock

In addition there are road vehicles, farm animals, two barges (for the canal) and other scenic items.

The builder of the layout has provided craftsman-built stock boxes, the larger of which comprises two trays together with a specially constructed box to house the detachable buildings for safe transportation.

Both the layout and stock have been built very skilfully and it is delightful to observe and to operate but I no longer have the space to give it and it requires someone more skilled than me to upgrade and effect the necessary maintenance.
